Victor Kaniuka’s Curriculum Vitae Resume
He
is born in Buenos Aires. He begins working in wood, exhibiting his work
for the first time to critics in 1978. From then on, he undertakes direct
carving in different materials, marmors, stones, with inclusion of metals and
their combination. He also realizes big sized-works in reinforced concrete. In
the last years he adds to these materials cardboard, working out installations
in big volumes, creating special atmopheres. Even though his work is figurative,
it is complemented with elements of pre-columbian cultures, of american
extraction. Tiwanaku ruins, the Bonampak frescoes, origin myths of Amazonian
communities, these all are the essences he takes to realize his work. Bringing
them to cosmopolitan cultures, he chases the search of national cultural
identities, to amplify the criterium for universalism.
